It's a small fishing village on the edge of the fjord. Travelling through the tunnel to get there was an experience. The town is beautiful and the rich and vibrant fishing industry is interesting.

It was an overnight stay on our way along the fjords, very easily accessible accommodation on the main street. Suðureyri has a decent church, too. Very special is the access to the village - through a 9km-long tunnel in the massif, with a T-junction inside. The tunnel has only one lane, one preferred direction and lot of side stops for cars passing by. It's a very cool experience!

This is a very quiet town.

This is a very quiet town. During the off season, there are no restaurants, although a local grocery store sells "ready to eat" meals. If you want a peaceful and relaxing place, this is it. And do not forget the local pool!
